2025 Mini Series Global Outreach & Branding Conference

The 2025 Mini Series Global Outreach & Branding Conference is scheduled to take place from June 26 to 27, 2025, at Shanghai Oriental Intelligent Media City. The event is guided by the China Netcasting Services Association, the Minhang District Administration of Culture and Tourism, and the Shanghai Network Audio-visual Association. It is sponsored by Shanghai Oriental Intelligent Media City, and organized by CRI Online. The conference will bring together mini series investors, practitioners, and copyright-related service providers from countries and regions such as the United States, Russia, Iran, Morocco, Southeast Asia. Key discussion topics will focus on four areas: distribution, investment and financing, new business model, and AIGC. The conference will explore key topics including global capital flows, AI applications, cross-border legal compliance, and innovations in "mini series+e-commerce" integration. By leveraging full-industry-chain resources—including collaborations with Google, TikTok, Huace Film & TV, and others—the conference aims to build an integrated industry platform and accelerate project incubation.
The conference leverages CRI Online's multilingual, all-media platforms to connect with a global media network and strategically engage both core and emerging markets across Europe, North America and the Asia-Pacific region. It aims to enhance international communication, build a hub for digital media innovation, and empower the global development of digital content. The conference aspires to become a flagship event for the mini series industry—defined by quality, global reach, and creative innovation. By fostering in-depth dialogue between Chinese stories and global cultures, it will serve as a bridge for cultural exchange and a catalyst for international cooperation.

Mini series, as an emerging form of cultural and artistic expression that deeply integrates culture and technology, have become a new driver of growth in China's cultural industry. As of December 2024, China's mini series user base had reached 662 million, with a half-year growth rate of 14.8%. Meanwhile, through the joint efforts of platforms, producers, and brands, innovative development models such as "mini series + e-commerce" and "mini series + culture and tourism" continue to emerge and evolve.
In overseas markets, Chinese mini series are showing strong growth momentum. According to available data, as of March 2025, a total of 237 Chinese mini series apps have entered international markets, with cumulative global downloads exceeding 270 million. Market growth has been led by North America, followed by expansion into Europe, Japan, South Korea, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, and beyond.
At the beginning of 2025, the National Radio and Television Administration launched the "mini series plus" action plan. This initiative aims to promote the integration of mini series across various industries and to encourage broader public engagement in the creation of internet-based cultural and artistic content. It also seeks to expand the thematic scope and stylistic diversity of mini series to better meet audiences' needs, while contributing to broader social and economic development.
